in the U.S. and Canada.
October, 2003
JENKINTOWN, PA - Managing Editor Inc. (MEI)
today announced the appointment of Flux Consulting (New York)
as its first K4 Publishing System distributor. Flux will
bring K4 to the magazine and corporate publishing markets in
the United States and Canada.
MEI's K4 distributor channel launched in response to a growing
market demand for the database-driven editorial workflow system
that integrates Adobe® InDesign® and InCopy®. MEI
distribution partners will be well established in specific geographical
segments and equipped to implement the K4 solution for publishers
migrating to the Adobe product suite.
Flux more than fit the bill, according to Mark Leister, vice
president of business development for MEI. "I'm confident
that the focus and expertise Flux brings to the table will establish
K4 as a powerful force in the magazine and corporate publishing
worlds."
Since 1996, Flux Consulting has developed innovative technology
solutions for publishing professionals. Flux specializes in
workgroup publishing, digital asset management and automation
technologies. Founding partners Scott Dunn and Jennifer Pade
bring a combined 24 years of technology consulting experience
to Flux Consulting and are ready to extend that experience to
K4 distribution.
"InDesign brings an exciting new shift to traditional desktop
publishing by raising the bar for typography, OS X and PDF support,
and integration with other Adobe products," Pade said.
"Having an editorial system of equally high standards is
essential if InDesign is going to make headway in the design
and publishing markets."
"We believe that K4 is the solution," Pade continued.
"It is a powerful tool that offers new ways of thinking
about control, flexibility and scalability in collaborative
workflows. With K4, our customers will be able to leverage InDesign's
superior design and layout capabilities, leverage both OS X
and Windows 2000/XP and use a familiar workflow system to manage
their content effectively and affordably."
Flux Consulting helps clients identify benefits and opportunities
unique to their workflow, followed up with a full suite of services
to transition them from their existing systems to a K4/InDesign
solution. Flux offers workflow analysis , installation and configuration,

up with MEI to provide complete services related to K4 implementation," Pade said.
